About Buddhist Library
"Just as the great ocean has one taste, the taste of salt, so too this Dhamma and Discipline has one taste, the taste of liberation."
Buddhist Library is a free online library of the Dharma — a place to preserve, organize, and share the Buddha’s teachings so that anyone can approach them in a clear, well-grounded, and accessible way.
Our spirit
We hold to a spirit of simplicity and generosity: the content comes first, and the design stays out of the way. No ads, no clutter — just a quiet space that makes studying the Dharma calm and unhurried.
What you'll find
- Scriptures: canonical texts and translations from open-access, freely shared sources.
- Articles: studies, applied Buddhism, and clear explanations of the teachings.
- Dharma talks: curated audio and video teachings.
- Glossary: a quick-reference dictionary of Buddhist terms.
On the traditions
We aim to present the teachings faithfully and to remain respectful and neutral across the Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions. Where a point is debated among scholars or lineages, we note it as such rather than presenting it as settled.
On copyright
We respect copyright. Scriptures and materials are drawn first from public-domain and openly licensed sources, used for non-commercial Dharma sharing, and always attributed. If you hold rights to something here and would like it adjusted, please contact admin@buddhist-library.com.
